Smartwatch Tech Saves Moroccan Pilgrim's Life during Hajj
King Abdullah Medical City, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, saved the life of a Moroccan pilgrim who suffered a severe heart attack, thanks to advanced virtual monitoring and smartwatch technology.
Upon arrival at the medical city with a heart attack and pre-existing conditions (high blood pressure and diabetes), the pilgrim underwent an immediate and successful cardiac catheterization to insert a stent. After stabilizing, she received a smartwatch for remote health monitoring via the Seha Virtual Hospital system, allowing her to safely continue her Hajj.
While in Mina, the smartwatch alerted medical staff to abnormal indicators and chest pain. The virtual follow-up team swiftly directed her to the nearest hospital for urgent assessment and monitoring, ensuring her well-planned discharge and continued care.
