UNESCO Natural Sciences Director Visits SDAIA, ICAIRE

UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences Lidia Arthur Brito visited the headquarters of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) in Riyadh.

 The UNESCO assistant director-general was briefed on SDAIA's efforts in the field of data and artificial intelligence (AI) and the support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides to UNESCO's ICAIRE to carry out its international missions.

 During the visit, Brito met with several SDAIA officials and was briefed on a detailed explanation of Saudi Arabia's progress in the field of data and AI. She praised Saudi Arabia's experience in regulating and AI governance.

 During the visit, she reviewed the work of ICAIRE and its international efforts to raise awareness and develop AI ethics.

 ICAIRE works to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to support research and development in the AI field and raise awareness of AI ethics in line with the values and principles of the UNESCO recommendation.

 Brito's visit comes within the framework of supporting cooperation between UNESCO and Saudi Arabia and enhancing ICAIRE's role as a global hub for shaping the AI future. This will consolidate Saudi Arabia's position and its active role in international efforts aimed at employing modern technologies to serve humanity and achieve the SDGs.
